Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain

From your guest room walk to the back of the Inn and head left towards the three level staircase. From the top you will have a spectacular view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and, on a clear day, buildings in downtown Victoria. The staircase leads to the Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain which has benches for sitting, resting and enjoying the colorful potted flowers displayed around the fountain.

Port Angeles Inn has rooms with views of the Port which leads to beautiful Victoria B.C. We have guest from all over the world who come to stay and take day trips on the Black Ball Ferry Line. Victoria is only 18 miles away; crossing time takes about 1 1/2 hours. The Black Ball Ferry Line operates all year except for 2 weeks in January.

 

World Famous Butchart Gardens founded in 1904. From the exquisite Sunken Garden (once a limestone quarry) to the charming Rose, Japanese and Italian gardens, this 50 acre showplace still maintains the gracious traditions of the past.

 

The Royal B.C. Museum is located in the Inner Harbor area. The well-designed museum offers something for everyone. Also located in the Inner Harbor is the grand old Empress Hotel. Be sure to browse through the many intriguing shops and perhaps linger awhile and enjoy High Tea.

 

Craigdarroch Castle was built in the late 1800s by Robert Dunsmuir, a Scottish immigrant who made his fortune from Vancouver Island coal. (Remember, Victoria is located in a foreign country and a passport is required to enter and leave Canada.

Prince Of Whales (whale watching) is the largest year-round whale watching and eco adventure company in British Columbia. On one of their tours you may see humpbacks, greys, minke, and gray whales as well as harbor seals, elephant seals, Dalls's porpoise, harbor porpoise, California sea lions, Steller sea lions, bald eagles, common murres, and cormorants.

 

Olympic National Park

This million-acre park is the jewel of the Olympic Pennisula. It harbors many different ecosytstems, animals, and flora. From the almost 8,000 foot peak of Mt. Olympus to the shores of the Pacific Ocean this park has something for everyone. The biggest challenge is trying to decide what part of this immense park to visit first. Hurricane Ridge

The massive mountain that rises 5,320 feet above sea level, is one of Olympic National Park's most scenic areas, offering a beautiful panoramic view of both the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the alpine meadows, along with glacier-capped peaks of the Olympic Mountains.

 

Dungeness Lighthouse

The New Dungeness Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in the Northwest and is a short drive from Port Angeles. It is located at the tip of the 5-mile long Dungeness Spit in Sequim, Washington. The Lighthouse has been in continuous operation, providing navigational aids to ships in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, since its completion in 1857.

 

City Pier

The pier can be seen from our guest room window. Located on Lincoln Street, the city pier has an observation tower, promenade decks, a picnic area and short-term moorage. Hollywood Beach is a refreshing spot to take a stroll or bike along the waterfront trail. The beach is also a popular spot for kayaking and swimming or wading on those warm summer days.

 

Fiero Marine Life Center

Located at the city pier, you will find a marine laboratory open to the public. The Fiero center features a mural of life in the early days of Port Angeles, depicting a Klallam village at nearby Ennis creek along with men and women who settled there as part of the Puget Sound co-operative colony a hundred years ago (1887-1904).

Museum At The Carnegie

This lovely museum, which is just moments away from our location, offers a glimpse into Clallam County's past. Learn about early settlers, listen to stories from the tribes, and explore the arts. This is a great educational place for adults and children. The museum is located at 207 Lincoln St.

 

Rayonier Steam Locomotive

The Rayonier Steam Locomotive can be seen at Locomotive Park on Lauridsen Boulevard between Chase and Peabdody streets. This landmark, built in 1924, is in remembrance of the North Olympic Peninsula's timber history.

 

The Spectacular Sol Duc Falls

A must see!! The trail head is located a short drive past the resort and camp grounds. Several trails take off from the Sol Duc Falls Trail taking you up into the Seven Lakes Basin. Sol Duc Falls is the most photographed area in the entire Olympic Peninsula offering breath taking shots, and memories to last a lifetime.

 

Marymere Falls

The year-round water of falls creek plunges 90 feet from a cliff into a small pool near the trail below. There are stairs to the right of the falls which allow better viewing and great photo opportunities of the upper segment. The falls are an easy 0.8 mile hike from Storm King Visitor Center on Lake Crescent. The falls are located on hwy 101.

Lake Sutherland

Lake Sutherland is a freshwater lake located 15 miles west on Highway 101, just before Lake Crescent. This is a great fishing or just a place to stop and relax on your journey.

 

Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent is located on Hwy 101 17 miles from the Port Angeles Inn. Lake Crescent provides panoramic water and mountain views with excellent recreation opportunities. On the way, be sure to watch for the small waterfalls that flow off the mountain sides.

 

Neah Bay, Cape Flattery, Makah Museum, Lake Ozette

Visitors from all around the world head to the most Northwestern tip of the lower 48, visiting Cape Flattery on the Makah Reservation located 75 miles NW of Port Angeles on Hwy 112. Cape Flattery is located approx 7 miles from Neah Bay. The newly constructed wooden walk way takes you to some of the most gorgeous, rugged and wild scenery on the Pacific Coast.

 

Salt Creek County Park located on the Strait of Juan de Fuca west of Port Angeles offers fascinating tidal pools, (We can supply you with information on low and high tides).

 

The Dungeness Spit and Wildlife Refuge

Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge is located along the northern coast of the Olympic Peninsula in Clallam County, Washington. The Refuge currently consists of 636 acres, including a sand spit, second-class tidelands and bay, and a small forested upland area. Dungeness Spit is one of only a few such geological formations in the world which was formed during the Vashon Glacial era 10,000 to 20,000 years ago.

The Olympic Game Farm

The Olympic Game Farm located in Sequim worked exclusively for Walt Disney Studios for 28 years, filming at the farm, on the Olympic Peninsula, as well as on many different set locations. A few popular titles produced with their past animal actors, are “Charlie the Lonesome Cougar”, “The Incredible Journey”, “White Wilderness” and “Grizzly Adams” television and movie series. This is a great place for adults and children!

 

Ediz Hook in Port Angeles provides great views of the Olympic and Cascade mountains. Ediz Hook is part of the 5.5 miles of Waterfront Trail; perfect for jogging, walking, biking, or roller blading.

 

The Elwha Valley west of Port Angeles is a beautiful drive along the rushing Elwha River. Madison Falls is an easy hike. Further up the valley beyond Lake Mills is the trail head to the Olympic Hot Springs.

 

Port Townsend, known as "Washington's Victorian Seaport" is located 49 miles east of Port Angeles Inn. Victorian homes and commercial buildings erected during the late 1800s are still the city's trademark, along with Fort Worden State Park.
